The Sister city relationship between San Francisco and Osaka isn’t San Francisco’s only sister city relationship, but is the oldest, founded in 1957.
To recognize that relationship, we will be celebrating Osaka Matsuri on August 27, 2016 in Japantown.We will have performances at the Peace Plaza.
(The pagoda in the center of the plaza was a gift from Osaka.) Many of the restaurants in Japantown will be serving food that originated in Osaka.

It has the schedule of performances and activities, and the restaurants and businesses that are partnering with us to make the festival possible.

Since Osaka speaks their own dialect of Japanese, there’s also a handy phrasebook so you can impress your friends.
